Groundskeeper at Battle Abbey Backcountry Lodge

At Weber Powder the Groundskeeper is responsible for overseeing lodge facilities and infrastructure while aiding with the day to day operations of the lodge to ensure our guests have the best experience possible during their time at the lodge. We offer a world class experience for our guests and need an exceptional team to help us deliver the experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

This section contains a description of the duties and responsibilities assigned to the job; also referred to as the essential functions. They describe the fundamental nature of the job which occupies a large proportion of the employee’s time.

  • Outdoor grounds of the lodge are maintained to the highest standards possible including but not limited to pathways between buildings cleared of snow and helicopter landing pad kept useable at all times.

  • Ensure lodge cleanliness standards are upheld daily including but not limited to wash facilities, boot room, gear room.

  • Generator & lodge infrastructure systems checks and visual inspections as required including but not limited to logging machinery hours, fuel tanks filled, maintaining water tank levels, firewood stocked and fireplaces lit.

  • The maintenance and service of our ski rental fleet including guest and guide skis.

  • Clean & maintain keg system.

  • Helping to welcome guests at the end of each ski day.

  • Helping with Utilities flights.

  • Assisting with dishes after dinner.

  • Daily Field Radio assistance including in emergency situations.

  • Helping the Guest Experience Host and other staff with other tasks as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • WHMIS (Mandatory).

  • 80-hour First Aid Training (CPR & AED) (Mandatory).

  • Mechanical Experience (Preferred).


3 years experience in a hospitality setting, remote lodge experience an asset. 

Working Conditions

  • This is a seasonal full-time position beginning in December 2024.
  • Must be capable of standing for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Shifts at the lodge may be up to 21 days.
  • Staff are responsible for their transportation to the Alpine Helicopter Hanger in Golden and are expected to arrive 45 minutes before guests are due to assist in the loading of the helicopter and to be available to help guests.
