Hiring - Chef at Battle Abbey

We are looking to hire an additional chef to join the team at Battle Abbey Backcountry Lodge this coming winter. 

In this role, you'll be a vital part of our team, ensuring a seamless and comfortable experience for our guests.

Relief Chef

At Weber Powder the Relief Chef will step in to maintain culinary operations during the head chef’s absence. You will be responsible for creating upscale meals with a focus on local Canadian products for our clients and staff. The relief Chef is responsible organizing menus, food preparation and kitchen management while adhering to health and safety standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking meals according to the menus and dietary requirements
  • Responsible for Breakfast, Lunch*, Apres Ski snack and Dinner
  • Ensure that food quality and presentation meet the highest standards
  • Supervising and coordination of staff
  • Monitoring inventory levels and reporting to the head chef for ordering
  • Managing food costs as set by the head chef and minimizing waste
  • Adhering to food safety standards
  • Assisting with menu planning and development, menus to be approved by head chef

Preferred Qualifications:

Cerifications

  • WHMIS (Mandatory)
  • Foodsafe Level 1 or equivalent (Mandatory)
  • Serving it Right or equivalent (Preferred)
  • First Aid Training (CPR & AED) or above (Preferred)
  • Culinary Arts Degree or equivalent (preferred)

EXPERIENCE

3 Years experience in a hospitality setting, Remote lodge experience an asset.

Working Conditions

  • This position is in a Backcountry lodge ability to work in the outdoors necessary
  • Must be capable of standing for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lb
  • Shifts at the lodge may be up to 21 days without a day off, expectation of up to 12 hours a day
  • Staff are responsible for their transportation to the Alpine Helicopter hanger in Golden BC, and are expected to arrive 30 minutes before guests are due to assist in the loading of the helicopter and to be available to help guests

Schedule and Wages

  • Shifts are a rotational schedule that vary but are typically 10 days on 15 days off
  • Wage is dependant on experience plus gratuities which are spilt equally amongst all team members.
