Heli Assisted Ski Touring at Battle Abbey

Introducing Heli-Assisted Ski Touring at Battle Abbey – Starting January 2026

We’re always looking for ways to elevate the backcountry experience at Battle Abbey, and we’re thrilled to announce a new offering: heli-assisted drops for ski touring, available starting January 2026!

This optional add-on for guests staying at our lodge will allow you to kick off your day with a heli drop to a summit, setting the stage for an unforgettable descent before continuing your tour. While we already offer incredible ski terrain right from the lodge door, this new option opens up access to some of the most spectacular and remote zones in our tenure—without the long approach.

How It Works

A helicopter from Golden, BC will fly to Battle Abbey, pick up guests opting for the heli drop, and drop them off on one of the high alpine summits within our tenure. From there, it’s all downhill—literally—before transitioning into a day of ski touring and eventually skiing back home to the lodge.

Access More Terrain

With the heli-assisted option, you can venture further afield and experience runs that are otherwise a long tour away. Weather and conditions permitting, some of the potential drop locations include Mount Butters, where skiers can access descents of up to 1,400m of vertical. Whether you’re looking for expansive alpine bowls, steep chutes, or long glacier runs, the possibilities are endless.

The Ultimate Backcountry Experience

Heli-assisted touring at Battle Abbey isn’t just about getting higher, faster—it’s about maximizing your time in the mountains. You’ll start your day with a breathtaking heli drop and an epic descent, then continue your ski tour through some of the most pristine backcountry terrain in British Columbia.

For those who love earning their turns, this option doesn’t mean you have to heli-drop every day. Many guests may choose to do just one drop during their stay, using it as a way to explore further afield before returning to traditional ski touring for the rest of their trip.

If you’re ready to elevate your adventure, we can’t wait to share this new experience with you. The cost is $550 per person for the heli drop while at Battle Abbey.

Bookings for heli-assisted drops are available as part of your stay at Battle Abbey - simply request it when you book a trip with us.

See you on the skin track—after an unforgettable descent!
