We're please to announce that our summer 2026 mountain adventures are now available for booking at Battle Abbey!
Only accessible by helicopter, Battle Abbey is the ultimate remote mountain retreat. Founded in 1978 by legendary mountaineer Hans Gmoser — the pioneer behind CMH — this iconic lodge was first opened for skiing, climbing, and exploration. Today, its summer season reveals a wild, private playground deep in British Columbia’s Selkirks.
Step into untouched alpine terrain: hike established ridge-line trails, trek shimmering glaciers, scale our new via ferrata routes, swim in jewel-toned alpine lakes, and cast for bull trout and paddle board in pristine old-growth river systems. Every adventure is guided by our professional team, whether you’re hiking, glacier trekking, fishing, or climbing. All ages are welcome to Battle Abbey.
A thriving alpine ecosystem:
The valleys and ridges surrounding Battle Abbey are home to BC wildlife. Grizzly bears roam the subalpine meadows, mountain goats traverse the passes, while elk and wolverine move silently through the old-growth forests. Eagles and ptarmigan soar overhead while wildflowers blanket the slopes — a reminder that this is one of the most untouched corners of the Selkirks.
After a day in the high country, return to the comfort of our uniquely welcoming lodge. Enjoy a curated wine cellar while gazing across jagged peaks, unwind with a massage and sauna, curl up by the fire with a favourite book, or watch the alpenglow settle over the mountains.
