Built in 1978 by pioneering guides Bill Putnam and Hans Gmoser, the Abbey has long been a haven for adventurous skiers. Under Weber Powder’s stewardship, it’s been transformed into a unique mountain retreat — complete with chef-driven dining, a curated Okanagan wine cellar, sauna, and inviting new living spaces — while keeping the soul of human-powered skiing alive.
As the FT notes, more skiers are moving from heli-skiing to immersive ski touring: earning turns, connecting deeply with the mountains, and treading lighter on the environment — all without giving up comfort or world-class powder.
