Battle Abbey: Gladed Tree Skiing Improvements In 2025

We're thrilled to announce some incredible news for powderhounds and tree skiing enthusiasts! Weber Powder has received official approval from the BC government, with the valued support of the Ktunaxa First Nation, to glade 190 acres of (existing tree skiing) terrain adjacent to Battle Abbey Backcountry Lodge. This expansion will unlock world-class tree skiing experiences right from your doorstep!

A Transformative Partnership

This project wouldn't be possible without the collaborative efforts of the BC government and the Ktunaxa First Nation. We extend a heartfelt thank you to both parties for their forward-thinking approach and commitment to sustainable development.

World-Class Tree Skiing, Right from Your Door

The glading will commence in the summer of 2025, meticulously opening up tree skiing opportunities right from Battle Abbey Backcountry Lodge while preserving the character and ecological integrity of the surrounding forest. The project will focus on glading brush, deadfall, and small tree fences to improve skiing on popular ski lines like Woodlot, Pressure Drop, Laundry Chute, Colon, Chalkstone, and more. The four year permit will allow the team at Weber Powder to focus on improving these ski lines, opening new ones and creating tree skiing to valley bottom.

This expansion and improvements to tree skiing will cater to a wider range of skiers and snowboarders, offering something for everyone – from seasoned veterans seeking challenging steep and deep lines to those wanting to explore the magic of tree skiing for the first time.
